What is Movember?

Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for cancers that affect men.

At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo, raising money along the way for cancers that affect men - specifically prostate and testicular cancer.

Where does the money go?

The money raised goes to the Movember Foundation (Tax ID: 77-0714052) which is a not for profit organization that runs the Movember event each year. At the end of each campaign the funds are donated evenly to our two outstanding beneficiary partners - the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

You can also choose to hold your own end of Movember Party for your workplace, town, bar or university and we will send you a free party pack to ensure your event is a sucess.

How can women get involved?

While growing a Moustache is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who support their guys or just love Mo's!) form an important part of Movember. Mo Sistas can get involved by:

-    Registering online, recruiting a team of guys and raising money
-    Organizing events like Mo Parties
-    Making a donation to a Mo Bro
-    Supporting and showing love for the Mo
-    Attending the Gala Partés

How do I register?

Click on Get Involved or Register.

Choose whether you’d like to register as a team member, team captain or individual.

Some general personal information will be needed - complete all fields and click 'continue'. Your personal details are protected by our privacy policy and will not be sold to any third party or used for marketing.

You will then land in your Mo Space, where you can invite friends to register and donate, download information and posters and set up your donation page.

Do I have to register?

Yes, it is a legal requirement that participants register for Movember in order to fundraise on our behalf. By registering you are also provided with all the info you require to enable you to raise money and awareness for our two beneficiary partners - the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

I was registered last year - do I have to register again this year?

Yes, you do need to register again this year. Registration only takes 1-2 minutes.

I’ve already registered but now I’d like to join or start a team

You can join or start a team through your Mo Space by clicking on Edit Details. If you have trouble give Movember a call or send an email (310.984.1081 or info.us@movember.com)

What is Facebook Connect?

Facebook Connect allows you to easily post news items from the Movember website to your wall asking your friends to either join your Movember team or make a donation. You can also see which of your Facebook friends have already registered.

How do I change teams?

Please contact Movember (310.984.1081 or info.us@movember.com) and have your registration details handy. A Movember staff member will help facilitate.

Does everyone in my team have to register?

Yes, everyone who is growing a Moustache and raising money for Movember needs to register. If you have numerous people who need to register, please contact Movember on 310.984.1081 or info.us@movember.com and we can help with the process.

Can we change our team name?

Yes, please contact Movember on 310.984.1081 or info.us@movember.com and have your registration details ready. A Movember staff member will help facilitate.

Can I be in 2 teams?

The only way to do this is to have 2 separate registrations, one for each team. This is not recommended as you will not be able to combine your donations in order to reach milestones such as free Gala Tickets, Platinum Prize, etc.

I don't have an email address - what do I do?

We require an email address from you in order to register as all information is sent via email, and you will also need your email address to log in and view your donation progress.

If you do not have an email address, ask a family member or friend if you can have the information sent to their address and printed for you. Alternatively, you can create one for free using hotmail, gmail, yahoo or many other free email accounts.

Your email address and personal details are protected by our privacy policy and will not be sold to any third party or used for marketing.

What is Mo Space?

Mo Space is your personal homepage for Movember, generated automatically once you register. Within your Mo Space you can set up and personalize your own donation page; keep track of your donations; download useful information and graphics and invite friends and family to join Movember or donate to you.

I already have a Moustache - how can I participate?

If you already have a Moustache you can do a ‘reverse Movember’ and have people donate to you to shave it off. Alternatively, you could shave off your moustache at the start of Movember and then re-grow your Mo throughout the month…. Maybe it’s time to try a new Mo style?

Are goatees or beards allowed?

The definition of a Mo:

1.    There is to be no joining of the Mo to side burns – That’s a beard.
2.    There is to be no joining of the handlebars – That’s a goatee.
3.    A small complimentary growth under the bottom lip is allowed (aka a tickler).

Remember, it’s Movember, not ‘Beardvember’ or ‘Goateevember’

Do I have to start clean shaven?

Yes, Movember is for one month only! Head starts are not allowed and go against the spirit of Movember.

Can I order donation boxes?

Yes, your Mo Party Kit contains 2 donation boxes. If you are not holding an end of Movember Party but would still like some donation boxes please contact Movember (310.984.1081 or info.us@movember.com)

I want to hold a fundraising event - can you supply me with some posters?

Sure, you can order posters from our Merchandise section of the website. Alternatively you can register to host an end Movember Party and we will send you out a pack with posters, donation boxes, stickers, badges and a Man of Movember and Miss Movember sash, etc.

What is a Mo Party?

You can register to hold your own end of Movember Party at your workplace, university, club or local bar to celebrate your moustache journey and to crown your own Man of Movember and Miss Movember winners. Movember will send you a party pack with posters, donation boxes, stickers, pins, and a Man of Movember and Miss Movember sash. To register for a Mo Party click here.

How can I get a ticket to a Gala Parté?

Raise over $100 online (or submit your money to Movember early in the month).
Raise over $200 online (or submit your money to Movember early in the month) to get 2 tickets.

How do I get posters/promotional material for my workplace?

You can order posters from our Merchandise section of the website. Alternatively you can register to host an end of Movember Mo Party and we will send you a party pack with posters, donation boxes, stickers, pins and a Man of Movember and Miss Movember sash - everything you need to have a great event!

How do my donors get a receipt?

If someone donates to you online they are automatically provided with and emailed a receipt. If someone gives you a check or cash donation then use the Receipt Request Form. At the end of Movember, send this in with a Donation Form and we will issue receipts.

How do I send my money in?

1. Collect and add up all cash and check donations
2. Download and print this Donation Form
3. Complete the donation form outlining how you are sending in your donations (do not send cash - use electronic funds transfer, credit card, check or money order)
4. Mail the donation form, completed receipt request forms and any check(s), money order(s) to

When do I have to send my money in?

Ideally we would like you to send in your money as soon as possible, however technically there is no cutoff date. Please note, we do draw all fundraising prizes on December 9th so in order to be eligible for any of these prizes all money must be received prior to this date.

I deposited money in the bank but it’s not on my Mo Space/online total?

In order for any Bank Deposits or Electronic Funds Transfers to contribute towards your online total you must fill out a Donation Form and include details of your payment, along with your registration details. Please allow up to a week for processing once we have received this form.

I grew a moustache and raised money but wasn’t registered – what do I do?

If any of your donors need receipts fill out this Receipt Request Form and send it in with this Donation Form (you can leave the registration number field blank but be sure to put your name and contact details).

How do I donate to more than one person?

If you want to donate to more than one person, but not a team, then you will need to complete the donation process for each person separately.

Can I donate from my business?

Yes, if donating with your credit card online simply place the business name in the fields for first and last name (you will just need to ensure that both fields are filled).

Is my donation private?

During the donation process you will be given the option to make your donation and donation message private so that it is not listed publicly on the Mo Bro/Sista’s Donation Page.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, all donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

How do I get a tax receipt for my donation?

If you donate online using your credit card you will be emailed a receipt instantly.

If you donate ‘offline’ (ie giving cash or a check to a Mo Bros or Sista) they will record your details on their Receipt Request Form and send it in with their payment to Movember for donation and receipt processing. If you require a receipt please note that to speed up the process and save in postage costs, email is the preferred method for sending receipts.

How long will it take to receive my receipt? (for cash donations)

Mo Bros and Sistas need to clearly record all cash donations on the Receipt Request Form and send it in with their payment to Movember for donation and receipt processing. Once we have received this form we will email receipts within one month and mail out receipts within three months. Please note that to speed up the process and save in postage costs, email is the preferred method for sending receipts.
