Can I connect a fitness tracker if I'm taking the Move Challenge?

If you've got a fitness device or app, you can connect it to your Movember account to automatically add your activities to your fundraising page and show your Move Challenge progress.
The fitness trackers and apps that can be connected are:
  • Garmin
  • Apple Health
  • Jawbone
  • MapMyFitness
  • MyFitnessPal
  • Misfit
  • RunKeeper
  • Strava

How do I connect my fitness device or app?

Go to the Move Updates tab in your Mo Space, or the Edit My Details section of your Mo Space, and you'll see the link to connect your device or app.

Click this link and you'll see the list of devices and apps that can be connected. Choose your fitness tracker from the list and follow the steps to connect it.

What happens once I've connected my device or app?

Your fitness activities* will be sent from your device to your Movember account. You can choose to either automatically post them to your public fundraising page, or individually choose which activities you want to make public from your Mo Space. Activities that are public will count toward your Move target. You can change these settings any time in the Edit My Details section.

Note: If you choose to post your activities automatically, there’ll be a delay of up to 30 minutes between your exercise and the public post.

(*See 'What activities are supported?’ below for some more info on which activities we can retrieve from your fitness tracker.)

What activities are supported?

Only the following Exercise Types can be posted to your Movember fundraising page using a fitness tracker:
  • Walking
  • Running
  • Cycling
  • Swimming
  • Workout
  • Yoga
We try to support variations of these activities where possible (e.g. "hiking", "mountain-biking", and "weight training" will appear as "I walked", "I cycled" and "I worked out" respectively), however some other activities you track with your device or app may not appear.

Why don't my total step count or my total distance walked appear?

Unfortunately we don't get this type of 'daily summary' information from the fitness devices and apps you can connect. We only get details of the individual activities you choose to track, such as runs, walks, cycle rides or swims you complete.

If you do want to enter your total step count and total distance walked, you can enter this information manually in the fields on the Move Update tab. Select 'I walked' from the Exercise Type list, and you will see the Distance and Steps fields to enter how far you went each day.

How do I add maps to my activities?

If you have connected your RunKeeper app, you can choose to add a map to your fundraising page with each activity (as long as you track the activity with GPS).

When you first connect your device or app, you'll be asked if you want to automatically add a map to your RunKeeper activities. Enable this (you must also enable automatic posting) and the next supported activity you track using GPS will be automatically posted to your fundraising page with a map of your activity.

You can also change this setting any time from the Edit My Details section.

How do I disconnect my fitness device or app?

Go to the Edit My Details section of your Mo Space to edit your fitness tracker settings.

How do I enter my daily step count and total distance?

You can enter this information manually on your Move Update tab by selecting ‘I walked’ from the Exercise Type list.

To set up a network for your company or community please call (310) 450-3399 and we’ll be happy to help you.
A great way to kick off your fundraising is to encourage your friends, family and colleagues to donate to you to shave it off on Movember 1st. Then regrow your moustache throughout the month. Maybe it’s time to try a new moustache style? Check out our Mo Style Guide.

No. Movember is about real men growing real moustaches. It's the moustache that causes people to ask each Mo Bro why he's growing it. To be a true Mo Bro you should start completely clean-shaven on Movember 1st and Grow just a moustache for the 30 days of Movember. The definition of a Mo:
  1. There is to be no joining of the Mo to side burns. That’s a beard
  2. There is to be no joining of the handlebars. That’s a goatee
  3. A small complimentary growth under the bottom lip is allowed (aka a tickler)
View a copy of the Movember Rules.
Yes. On Movember 1st all participants should start completely clean shaven. Movember is for one month only and head starts are not allowed and go against the spirit of Movember. Remember - each Mo is a conversation starter for men’s health!
From the team who put the moustache back on the face of fashion comes Move, a 30-day fitness challenge to raise funds and awareness for men’s health. It’s a new way to make a difference this Movember. The challenge is to Move every day of Movember – 30 Moves in 30 days. How you Move each day is up to you. Whether it’s a workout one day, walking 30 minutes to work the next, a game of ping pong or an epic bike ride, no Move is too big or small.
Shave the Date is the official start of Movember, the day to shave down and get excited about the hairy month ahead. As the official Rules of Movember state, men must begin clean-shaven on the 1st of Movember and Grow only a moustache for the 30 days of the month. So, gather your friends, family and colleagues together and get those faces signed up and ready to Grow!
A Mo Event is simply a local gathering of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who know how to get creative and have a good time. Whether it’s a gold tournament, band night, or a dinner party – this Movember, get together to raise funds, make some noise, and stop men dying too young. Got a good party in mind? After sign-up, register your event here and check out our Host an Event page for tips and tricks to throwing a rocking Mo Party. Lastly, don’t forget to purchase promotional items through our Mo Gear section of our website to deck out your event space in proper Mo attire!
You can purchase promotional materials (shirts, stickers, hats, etc.) from the Mo Gear section on our website. There you will find everything you need to promote Movember in true Mo fashion!
We love a good party as much as the next Mo Bro, but due to the volume of events happening during the month of Movember we can only promote official events hosted by Movember. Don’t forget to register your event and purchase promotional materials from the Mo Gear section of our website.
When a business donates goods or services to your event it is considered an "in-kind" donation to your event. The business did not donate the goods or services directly to the Movember Foundation; therefore, we cannot issue them a tax receipt.
The 501(c)(3) letter is proof the Movember Foundation is recognized as a nonprofit organization by the federal government. Contact info.us@movember.com for more information.
Unfortunately, the Movember Foundation is not able to reimburse a fundraiser for event expenses.
Unfortunately, if you keep money raised from the event to cover expenses, not all the donations will receive a tax receipt. The Movember Foundation can only provide tax receipts for the actual dollars received. With all community events, you must provide a spreadsheet included with the event donation stating how much each donor contributed with the name, email address and amount donated. The total on the spreadsheet must equal the amount of the net proceeds check. For example, if your event raises $10,000 and you keep $2,000 to offset costs, you must provide a document including each donor name, email address, and amount donated totaling $8,000. Each donor on the spreadsheet will receive a tax receipt for the amount they donated.
Movember is a great way to spread camaraderie within your workplace. Encourage co-workers to get involved by starting a team for your company, and putting up promotional materials around the office. If you’d like more information check out our get involved section.
Movember actively engages with campus and fraternity organizations. To see how, check out our Movember on Campus page.
