Movember is the month formerly known as November, where men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues. Men grow a Mo (moustache) for 30 days to become a walking, talking billboards, for our men’s health causes - specifically cancers affecting men.

Men who support Movember, called Mo Bros, start by registering at Movember.com. Mo Bros start Movember 1st clean-shaven, then grow and groom their Mo, for the rest of the month, raising money along the way. Women who support Movember, called Mo Sistas, also start by registering at Movember.com. Mo Sistas champion the Mo by supporting their Mo Bros, organizing events, leading a team and spreading the important message of men’s health.

Where does the money go?

Funds raised through the Movember US campaign go to Movember (Tax ID: 77-0714052) which is a national, not for profit organization with 501(c)(3) registration.

The net funds are committed to programs supporting prostate cancer and other male cancer initiatives run by Movember and through our men’s health partners the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation, LIVESTRONG and Movember together ensure that funded programs are world-class and align with our strategic goals.

While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who love the Mo and want to support the efforts of the Mo Bros in her life) do a lot of important work for Movember. Mo Sistas can get involved by:

- Registering online, recruiting a team and raising money
- Organizing events i.e. Mo Parties
- Making a donation to a Mo Bro
- Supporting and showing love for the Mo
- Attending the Gala Partés
- Purchasing Movember Merchandise

Does Movember have charitable status?

I forgot my password

By clicking on ‘login’ there is an option to the right for ‘forgot my password?’ Simply enter your email address and click ‘submit’. You should receive an automated email from Movember within the next minute or so, which will allow you to reset your password. If you don’t receive this email, please call the Movember team on 310.450.3399 and we can reset your password over the phone.

What is a Mo?

A Mo is a shortening of the word moustache and is defined according to the Movember rules:

1.    There is to be no joining of the Mo to side burns – That’s a beard.
2.    There is to be no joining of the handlebars – That’s a goatee.
3.    A small complimentary growth under the bottom lip is allowed (aka a tickler).

How do I register?

1. Click on Get Involved or Register.

2. Choose whether you’d like to register as a team member, team captain or individual.

3. Some general information will be needed - complete all fields and click 'continue'. Your personal details are protected by our privacy policy and will not be sold to any third party or used for marketing.

4. You will then arrive to at your Mo Space page, where you can invite friends to register and donate, download information and posters and set up your personal URL.

Do I have to register?

Yes, it is a legal requirement that participants register for Movember as you are fundraising on our behalf. It also allows us to know how many people are taking part and log donations against your total. By registering you are provided with all the info you require to enable you to raise money and awareness for our two beneficiary partners - the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the LIVESTRONG.

I was registered last year - do I have to register again this year?

You can reactivate for Movember 2011 by simply clicking on Login and updating your details. You will then have access to view your 2010 donations as well as everything you need for the 2011 campaign.

I’ve already registered but now I’d like to join or start a team

You can join or start a team through your Login area by clicking on Team or Edit Details on the left menu. If you have trouble please contact us at (310) 450-3399 or info.us@movember.com.

How do I change teams?

If you want to change teams please contact Movember at 310.450.3399 or info.us@movember.com and have your registration details handy.

If you have not received any donations you can change teams yourself by logging into your Mo Space and going to "Edit My Details".

Does everyone in my team have to register?

Yes, every Mo Bro and Mo Sista who is growing a Mo and/or raising money for Movember needs to register. If you have numerous people who need to register, please contact Movember on 310.450.3399 or info.us@movember.com and we can help with the process.

Can we change our team name?

If you are a Team Captain you can change your team name when you are logged into your Mo Space, by going to Team on the left navigation and then click 'Edit' next to you team name. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Movember on 310.450.3399 or info.us@movember.com.

Can I change my name?

Yes, once logged into your Mo Space, you can change your name through the ‘Edit Details’ option in your login area.

Can I be in two teams?

The only way to do this is to have two separate registrations, one for each team. This is not recommended as it can create confusion, and you will not be able to combine your donations in order to reach milestones such as free Gala Tickets, Platinum Prize, etc.

What is Facebook Connect?

Facebook Connect allows you to easily post items from the Movember website to Facebook, which you can use to request donations or recruit team members. By using Facebook Connect you can also can also see which of your Facebook friends are participating in Movember.

I don't have an email address - what do I do?

We require an email address from you in order to register as all information is sent via email, and you will also need your email address to log in and view your donation progress.

If you do not have an email address, ask a family member or friend if you can have the information sent to their address and printed for you. Alternatively, you can create one for free using Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo or many other free email accounts.

Your email address and personal details are protected by our privacy policy and will not be sold to any third party or used for marketing.

What is Mo Space?

Mo Space is a Movember participant’s personal page to share photos, videos, updates and fundraising totals with friends, family and teammates. Every participant can create his or her own Mo Space page through the login area.

What is a network?

A network is a group made up of different teams and individuals that could represent a company, organization, college or school, sports team, community group or other.

You can be a member of multiple networks, e.g. your work network and/or sports team network. This allows you to contribute to their total amount raised and compare fundraising, while still participating on your own or in a team. This is a great way for business, schools, civil services and other groups to track their progress.

I already have a Moustache - how can I participate?

If you already have a moustache you can do a ‘reverse Movember’ and have people donate to you to shave it off. Alternatively, you could shave off your moustache on Movember 1st and then re-grow your Mo throughout the month…. Maybe it’s time to try a new Mo style?

Are goatees or beards allowed?

I want to hold a fundraising event - can you supply me with some posters/promotional materials?

Sure, you can order posters from our Merchandise section of the website. Why not register to hold a Mo Party and we will send you out a pack with posters, donation boxes, stickers, badges and a Man of Movember and Miss Movember sash, etc.

What is a Mo Party?

You can register to hold your own end of Movember Party at your workplace, university, club or local bar to celebrate your moustache journey at the end of Movember you can crown your own Man of Movember and Miss Movember winners. Movember will send you a party pack with posters, donation boxes, stickers, pins, and a Man of Movember and Miss Movember sash. To register for a Mo Party click here.

How can I get a ticket to a Gala Parté?

Two simple ways to get a Gala Parté ticket:

Raise funds! Raise $100 online (or submit checks/cash immediately) for one ticket; raise $200 for a second.

Where are the Gala Partés?

Gala Partés are hosted by Movember in a selection of major cities around the USA. A full list of event details for this year’s Movember Gala Partés can be found in the ‘Events’ tab of the website.

What do I wear to a Gala Partés?

Celebrating the end of their Movember journey, Gala Partés are an opportunity for Mo Bros (dressed to suit their Mo) and Mo Sistas (dressed to suit their Mo Bro) dress in fun or outrageous costumes. Popular choices are Magnum PI, Ron Burgundy, and Hulk Hogans vying for the coveted title of ‘Man of Movember’. To view past Gala Partés photos, simply click on the ‘Events’ tab of the website.

How do I get posters/promotional material for my office?

You can order posters from our Merchandise section of the website. Alternatively you can register to host an end of Movember Mo Party and we will send you a party pack with posters, donation boxes, stickers, pins and a Man of Movember and Miss Movember sash - everything you need to have a great event!

How do my donors get a receipt?

If someone donates to you online they are automatically emailed a receipt.

If someone gives you a check or cash donation then use the Donation Form (also sent to you via email and located in the downloads section of your Mo Space) and fill out the details of your donations. At the end of Movember, send in your Donation Form and we will issue receipts.

Note: To speed up the process and save postage costs (and a tree), email is the preferred method for sending receipts.

How do I send in cash donations?

You can pay your cash donations online using your credit card and still get your donors their tax receipts. Simply login to your Mo Space via movember.com, click on the ‘Donations’ tab in the menu on the left and follow the instructions under ‘submit cash donations now’.

1. Collect and add up all cash and check donations. (If your donors require receipts please fill out a separate Donation Form for each donation)
2. Download and print a Donation Form.
3. Complete the Donation Form outlining how you are sending in your donations (check/money order).

When do I have to send my money in?

Ideally we would like you to send in your money as soon as possible, however technically there is no cut-off date. Please note, we do draw all fundraising prizes on the 9th December, so in order to be eligible for any of these prizes all money must be received prior to this date.

I deposited money in the bank but it’s not on my online total.

In order for any Bank Deposits or Electronic Funds Transfers to contribute towards your online total you must fill out a Donation Form and include details of your payment, along with your registration details. Please allow up to a week for processing once we have received this form during our peak period.

I grew a moustache and raised money but wasn’t registered – what do I do?

If any of your donors need receipts fill out the Donation Form and send it in (you can leave the registration number field blank but be sure to put your name and contact details). Please note: Registrations are open until mid December.

Can I fundraise for a local beneficiary if I am not in an official Movember country?

Movember can only legally collect funds for Movember’s official beneficiary partners and we cannot under any circumstances raise funds for other organizations.

If you would like to use Movember to raise funds for men’s health, you will be raising funds for our world-class programs and research. You can choose to register in any of our official countries which are AU, NZ, UK, IE, USA,Canada and South Africa.

Where do I get this app?

You can get it from the Apple App Store by searching for “Movember Mobile” or by clicking here.

I haven’t registered, can I do it from the app?

No, you will need to register through movember.com first. To register click here.

I registered with my Facebook account, but the application won’t let me log in, what do I do?

You need to set a password via Edit My Details in your Mo Space first, or request a new password at the login screen.

How do I refresh the screen?

Just drag a list down and the totals will refresh.

I’m out & about, talking about Movember, how do I recruit people to my team?

Send them an email straight from your iPhone.

I want to upgrade to iOS5, will the application still work?

Yes, it has been tested on both iOS4 and iOS5.

Can I use this app on my iPad or iTouch?

Yes, though some functionality may not be available.

Can I make donations directly on my phone?

No, you can track them there, but you will need to visit movember.com to make a donation.

I don’t have an iPhone, but want this application, what can I do?

There will be an Android version of the application available soon.

Unfortunately it won’t be available to windows, blackberry or other phone operating systems.

The worldwide totals haven’t changed in the last 15 minutes, how come?

Totals on the iPhone will update at the same time as the website, hourly on the hour.

I had last year’s app but I’m not seeing any of this functionality?

The 2010 and 2011 apps are entirely different applications. Delete last year’s app and download the 2011 app here.

Can I donate cash?

Yes, but you cannot send cash in the mail. You can give cash to a Mo Bro or Mo Sista, but he/she will have to send it to Movember with a check or money order and a completed Donation Form.

Mo Bros and Mo Sistas need to clearly record all cash/check donations on the Donation Form and send them in with their payment to Movember for donation and receipt processing. Once we have received this form we will email receipts within one month and mail out receipts within three months. Please note that to speed up the process and save postage costs (and a tree), email is the preferred method for sending receipts.

Yes, it is secured by VeriSign and operated by Paymentech, which is part of JPMorgan. Secure pages on the website are prefixed by https://.

Is my donation private?

During the donation process you will be given the option to make your donation and donation message private so that it is not listed publicly on the Mo Bro or Mo Sista’s Mo Space page. You also have the option to make your donation anonymous.
