Every Movember, Mo's across the US compete for the legendary honor of being the “Mo Mo” (the top individual fundraiser), as well as the Top Big Team (11 or more) and Top Small Team (10 or less).  Each year, the winners receive special prize packages and this year Movember is introducing a special Mo Trophy for each winner.

In collaboration with the great Mo Folks at Ziba Design in Portland, Oregon, Movember is proud to announce the MObelisk.  Spearheaded by Christian Freissler and Amin Zahiry, these massive slabs of Mo wood were designed by Mo Bros, for Mo Bros, from wood salvaged from an old Indonesian ship, sanded down with the trimmings of moustaches past, and branded with the fire provided by endangered ginger Mo’s.  These Mo logs will have the winner’s name from each campaign branded into it and the trophy will remain with the winner for the entire year until the next Movember campaign.

“We basically were striving to not only create a cool trophy but we actually wanted to create something that could live on forever and resemble what Movember stands for,” said Christian.  On top of eternally commemorating Mo's efforts with their name on the trophy, they will also get to keep the branding iron used to leave their mark on the trophy.  “What we ended up with was not only a beautiful piece of craftsmanship but it’s also an icon for longevity. A trophy that gets passed on from winner to winner, from generation to generation – just like the Stanley Cup.”

Ziba Design have been part of Movember for three years, and, like many Mo’s, were drawn to Movember because of the fun and hilarity of growing a moustache. As their participation has evolved, so has the camaraderie in the office, but also the stories that have come from client meetings. Mo Bro Amin recalled one experience in particular: “My best memory was when I was in a meeting during my first year rocking the Mo and the client walked into the room and I introduced myself and I could tell she was a little taken back, but I thought nothing of it. Then, as she sat down, she told me that I looked like a '70s porn star'. It was a pretty good reaction and we laughed about it with the rest of the team. We then told her why we were growing moustaches and could see that she felt much more comfortable after we explained Movember to her.”

A huge round of applause and big thanks to Ziba Design for donating their time and effort on this project, as well as local Portland companies Viridian for supplying the wood, and Raygun Digital Artistry for the laser branding.
