My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

Four years ago a brilliant, fun, caring group of family and friends got behind me and my children to remember John…our Big Guy…our friend… and to make an impact. And what an enormous impact we made, 90 teammates raising over $32,000 and spreading the word about suicide awareness.

Since 2019, I have continued to be a part of the MOvement, I’ve just been pushing the initiative and the message through my role at work and the team there. THIS YEAR, following the lead of my sons, Maddie and I realized that it is time again to step up our game and rally Team Dash.

John and Brendan have both laced up and committed their time and energy to completing challenges that tax their bodies and their minds. John completed a half ironman in May of this year (shedding an entire hour off of his time from the year before) and Brendan is set to run the NYC Marathon this coming Sunday. Motivated by the memory of their father and the meaning of the message, “every minute, of every hour of every day around the world a man takes his own life,” each chose to dedicate their fundraising money to Movember.

February 27th of this coming year (2024) will mark five years since John’s passing. The time period between then and now has been interesting…quite a ride if I say so myself. From the gut wrenching discovery, telling the kids, and memorializing him, to healing, managing the blame game in my head and moving on. As the blog I started back in 2019 (the first year we gathered as Team Dash) suggests, I have turned many corners, I have maneuvered through new paths, I have made mistakes, I have learned from them, I have met new people, I have sold our family home, I have moved to a new state, and I have grown. If I have done nothing else, I have learned many lessons and I have grown and I know the importance of this mission and the people it can affect.

Whether you “Grow a Mo” or you “Make a Move” in Movember, let’s get the team back together and make an impact on men’s health. Let’s make “talking mental” trendy!

$20,322!! Another goal achieved! Let's go for $25,000, but if we don't get there, know how incredibly blessed I feel to be surrounded by so much love and support and how proud I am of the efforts of our 87 PERSON TEAM (and growing)!!! I am so grateful for the community of friends who are supporting this effort, and those in crisis, as teammates and/or donors. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined this kind of success in 10 short days. Thank you Team Dash and friends!

Team Dash!
I'm not sure where this is going to post, so I am trying it out before Day 1 on Friday. Never, ever, ever have I felt more love, support and a sense of TEAM than I do right now. The big guy is definitely smiling. We are 55 Hours In.

We have raised $6,891!

Let's shoot for #1 in the US!
Keep an eye out for tomorrow's post. I will share more stats and some ideas to keep us moving! We are strong, we have each other, and together we can do anything. Go Team Dash!
