People for the Ethical Treatment of Pilots (PFTETOP)

Our Motivation

Welcome to the team! People for the Ethical Treatment of Pilots is a Movember team that is trying to have a little fun whilst raising awareness and building support for some serious issues. Regardless of gender, pilots face hurdles to finding and receiving health care and mental health care that are similar to what inspired the original Movember movement.

Growing a mustache is the easiest and most obvious way you can participate, but if you cannot grow one, we still want you on the team. Fall is the best time of year to get outside and run, walk or hike 60 miles and "Move for Mental Health". If raising money is more your thing, Movember is a fully accredited charity that has raised over $1.3 billion dollars over it's 20+ year history. If nothing else, please just join the team. Show your support for your fellow aviators that may be going through a rough patch.

Keep checking in from time to time as we will post updates throughout the month.

Good evening, PFTETOP!
Here's my challenge to you for the week...try to recruit one person to the team. We just broke 30 members, so let's try to be at 60 this time next week...

Good morning, PFTETOP!

We are off to a great start with some returning members and some new members. But let's take it up a notch this year. My goal for this year is 500 members on the team. About 1/3 of the base or about 1/10 of the entire seniority list. For first year Mo's, the most we have had is about 15-20 on the team, so this is a rather lofty goal. However, I believe it is entirely attainable.

One thing that I have learned this year is that no one reads their emails...no one (me included). I can't tell you how many people I have talked to recently that had no idea about the team and this is our 6th year. What I am asking of you is to spread the word on the line. Let your fellow aviators know about us. I try not to get too pushy (some will argue that), but I want to get the word out. It's very common to hear "I don't want to grow a mustache." but don't let them off the hook at that point. There are many ways to contribute, but most of all, I would ask that they simply join the team.

All of us have had to deal with some health or mental health issues during our career (or know someone else that has) and this show of support is for us...for each other. Please help get the word out there.

Dave

Cautiously optimistic that some good news comes out of this…
