Our Motivation

November 7th. 33 miles. Eight Taco Bells. Nine items. Eleven hours.

This is the inaugural SoCal Taco Bell 50K. It's free to enter, entirely unsupported, and nobody is making anyone do it. You navigate your own way between stops, you buy your own food, and you have to eat something at every single one. Drinks don't count. Antacids are banned — that's an actual written rule. Every wrapper gets counted at the finish, and if one is missing, you're out.

It started in Denver as a dare between friends and spread to half a dozen cities. This is the first one in Southern California.

We're running it for Movember.

Not because it makes sense. Because of what happens when you get a few hundred people together in one place with a reason to talk.

One in eight men will face prostate cancer. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men. Men are far more likely to die by suicide than women, and far less likely to tell anyone they're struggling first. Movember funds the research, treatments and mental health programs working on all of it.

Here's the thing we've learned: men won't turn up to talk about their health. They'll absolutely turn up to do something idiotic with their friends. So we're using the second to get at the first.

Somewhere around mile 27 — after the longest, loneliest stretch of the course — people will be having conversations they wouldn't have had on a normal Saturday. That's worth more than the money.

Join the team. Fundraise if you can, show up either way. You don't have to be fast. You don't have to be good at this. You just have to be willing to eat a Crunchwrap in a parking lot in Tustin for a cause.

Help us stop men dying too young.
