That’s why we’re taking action. The Movember Foundation is the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round. We’re funding ground-breaking projects to tackle some of the biggest issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. By participating in Movember, you’re joining the world’s largest movement for men’s health.
Since 2003, the Movember Foundation has engaged millions of men and women in the men’s health movement. Through the moustaches grown, the connections created, and the conversations generated, we’ve raised more than $710 million and helped fund over 1,200 breakthrough men's health programs in 21 countries.
The Movember Foundation has a singular focus to change the face of men’s health. Meaningful strides have been taken toward achieving our goals, but there is more work to be done. When it comes to their health, too many men don’t talk, don’t take action and die too young.
- 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
- Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-34 years
- 1 in 4 adults in the US will experience a mental health problem in a given year
- 3 out of every 4 suicides are men
- Moving on a regular basis can reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer by up to 50% and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%
Together, we can change these statistics.
Every Movember, we challenge men to Grow and women to support a moustache, make a commitment to get active and Move, or Host an event to raise funds for men’s health. It’s the growth of a new moustache (not a beard or goatee) that starts a conversation about men’s health. Move puts our vision into immediate action. Hosting an event brings out the creativity in all Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to have fun and raise funds to stop men dying too young.
Awareness and education then prompts people to take action and change their behavior, which is impacting and saving lives today. During Movember, each moustache generates more than 2,400 conversations about men’s health. Through the power of the moustache:
- 75% of participants were more aware of the health risks they face
- 62% made an appointment with a medical professional to improve their health
- 50% encouraged someone else to take action to improve their health
