Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

This has been the "year of surgery" for the men in my family. I had a spinal fusion surgery over the summer. My dad recently had a hernia surgery. And my 12-year-old son is going to have surgery in November for a pre-existing (multiple osteochondromas). This year has been a stark reminder of the importance of taking care of ourselves physically and mentally. Recovery is never is easy, and definitely takes a toll on our mental health. I'm growing to remind other Bros that it's ok to talk about the challenges we have physically and encourage them to seek help early if they feel something is not right (I suffered from back issues for years before finally admitting I needed surgical intervention and my dad did the same with the hernia). Lastly, I want to help break the stigma that men have around talking about their mental health.
