Movember ends with a whimper, not a bang: A little Dance Central, a little Header Goal, 39 minutes, 148 calories. I pulled something in my shoulder this morning so I couldn't do all of the dance moves in Dance Central, which I bought specifically to celebrate the end of Movember. Well, I've got 11 months to rehab the shoulder until the next move!

Day 28 Synth Riders Mutliplayer Saturday Synth Fever 2 hour 13 minutes 857 calories. Not quite as efficient as yesterday, but a whole lot more fun. And, honestly, I only topped the leaderboard these two times. I guess I need to get fitter!

173 Week(s) Ago

Day 27 Synth Riders 51 minutes 581 calories. Why so many in such a short time? Two reasons. One, I was using force mode rather than rhythm (accuracy) mode. Second, I was in continuous play mode. You can see today's effort on the right compared with yesterday's on the left.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 26 Synth Riders with http://www.heyfalcon.com/ 362 calories in one hour playing in the big boys' room. This was the highest rank I got all day. However, I bet a burn more calories tomorrow with a continuous stream solo. Big thanks to @HeyFalcon_ for leading the stream!

Day 25 Song Beater - Quite My Tempo. YUR didn't seem to record this, but my watch did (except for my heart rate). It thinks I burned 231 calories in 50 minutes (really, 36 minutes but I forgot to stop the workout). Better than the non-rhythm games, and about the same as The Thrill of the Fight. It has changed its interface a lot. I still like Synth Riders the best. I have one more game to test and then there is Saturday Synth Fever and Sunday I bike to the Farmers' Market, but I think Friday I will show how efficient it is to burn calories in Synth Riders continuous mode.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 33 The Climb 52 minutes 112 calories - or so says YUR. "The Climb" is a rock climbing simulator. Obviously, I am not hoisting my body weight, but with the weight vest and especially arm weights, I am effectively working out the OPPOSITE muscles to what one uses rock climbing. I can already tell my deltoids will be complaining tomorrow

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 22 Titan Slayer VR Fitness 32 minute 132 calories. Not as good as the Thrill of the Fight but better than Gorn. I have one other "swordplay" game to test out, but I think it's clear that pure rhythm games like Synth Riders or boxing games like Thrill of the Fight are a better choice for fitness.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 21 Movember Move Challenge - Synth Riders "Saturday Synth Fever" VR Community fitness. While YUR says I burnt 927 calories in 2 hours and 18 minutes, I could not have done it without the leadership of @HeyFalcon_ and @LadyXanthar. Again, I am posting this here rather than the "Moves" section because the latter doesn't allow me to show off - er, upload a photo. The other moves are posts on my personal Movember page.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 20 The Thrill of the Fight VR Fitness 35 minutes 236 calories burnt. I didn't wear the arm weights. You can actually see from the YUR activity graph I tired myself out after the first 20 minutes or so. I still "won" my "fights" but with a more "defensive" stance.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 18 Skyrim VR Fitness Over an hour and 13 calories? Even playing with dual swords just did not really make this a fitness game, despite the weight vest and arm weights. I think Until You Fall works better for that. But Skyrim is so fun! Plus I tricked Farkas into wearing fur "armor" but upgrading it so it technically provides more protection than heavy armor. Oh, exploits!

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 15, 16 and 17 Spider-Man: Far From Home. Superhot. and VR Sports Challenge respectively. The best workout I got was 39 minutes and 57 calories. OK, so these were maybe not a great choice for VR fitness, but Rich tired me out - my glutes were on fire Sunday. Plus, web slinging! Who could resist that? And one of them had "Sports Challenge" in the name!

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 14 - Almost the half-way mark, and a 30-minute Tabata hosted by none other than Rich Loesing himself! Big hairy ups to the Movember Master! The reason this is a post and not a "move" is the "Moves" section doesn't seem to allow for images, and I couldn't bear to not share Rich's smiling mug.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 13 Gorn VR Fitness 33 minutes 107 calories - again, probably an underestimate of the total number of calories considering I was wearing my weight vest and arm weights, and you move by swinging your arms. Just be glad I am showing you the fitness metrics from YUR and not the gory if cartoonish VR images.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 12 Header Goal VR fitness 41 minutes 110 calories - more of a core workout, a number of soccer (and other) balls are thrown at you, and you have to hit them with your head into various targets. An interesting idea that obviates the need for controllers.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 11 Sprint Vector VR Fitness 43 minutes 257 calories. Kind of like skiing, you effectively run with your hands.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 10 The Show Must Go On VR Fitness. YUR thinks I only burned 67 calories in 32 minutes, but it doesn't have direct heart rate tracking yet, and can't tell that I was wearing the weight vest and arm weights. I wrote in the app "ADHD VR fitness." The songs are almost completely generic. Every 8 bars or so the rhythm game changes. I am not sure the purpose of the dancing white girls in the background. The avatar that looks like Darth Vader apes your movements after you have completed the song.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 9 BoxVR fitness. 33 minutes and 386 calories. As I wrote in the app: An example of how a great idea - the targets specify punch, uppercut, roundhouse, or block - can be ruined by terrible execution. As you can see, not only did I burn a few more calories with Dance Collider, I had a lot more fun.

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 8 Dance Collider VR Fitness - 38 minutes and 391 calories. A bit cartoonish compared to Synth Riders, but a great workout nonetheless. I finally figured out YUR tracking!

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 7 Synth Riders multiplayer - 2 hours 5 minutes and 845 calories later, the undisputed leader in my room!

174 Week(s) Ago

Day 5 Marvel Powers United 40 minutes. I hadn't quite figured out how to get YUR to track my calories in Oculus games yet, and I'm not sure how accurate it is, either. However, this game allows you to play as the Hulk and grab and throw opponents.
