Some of life’s toughest battles are those we face alone—depression, stress, and anxiety grab hold of some people daily. The fight against cancer is another battle that many must navigate by themselves. Far too often, the quiet struggle is overlooked by society.

In such a busy world, it’s easy to become tunnel-visioned and forget to consider those around you. Sometimes all it takes to lift someone out of their slump is a question: “How are you doing?” Showing another person that you care about them and acknowledging their existence can entirely change their day, if not their life.

It’s high time we step outside ourselves, open up to others, and lend a hand to those who need it most.
