My motivation

I am motivated to raise awareness for Movember because the mental health crisis among men is both alarming and deeply personal. Every hour, we lose 60 men globally to suicide, and 22 veterans take their lives daily. These numbers represent not just statistics but lives cut short by struggles that are often invisible, stigmatized, or untreated.

For many men, society’s expectations to “tough it out” or avoid vulnerability lead them to internalize pain and refuse to seek help. This silence is deadly. Veterans, in particular, face unique challenges after their service—combat trauma, reintegration struggles, and a lack of adequate mental health resources—that make them even more vulnerable to mental health issues like depression and PTSD.

Movember shines a light on these issues by raising awareness and funds for mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. By growing a mustache or supporting those who do, we start conversations that need to be had, offering men a platform to talk openly about their mental and physical health. It’s not just about raising money; it’s about challenging stigma, breaking down barriers, and helping men realize they’re not alone in their struggles.

I raise awareness for Movember because I believe in the power of community and support. It’s a cause that can save lives. One conversation, one campaign, one mustache at a time—together, we can make a difference for men who feel like they have nowhere to turn.
