My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention
Men's health

This is my 5th NYC marathon to honor my Dad who struggled with mental health issues and he was not able to get help or support that made a difference. His death by suicide, when I was 13, inspires me to want to help to break the stigma of men seeking help or talking about Mental Health struggles. Also, this year I’ll be honoring my Mom who has a recent stage IV cancer diagnosis that she is beginning to face. Movember supports many suicide prevention programs as well as programs to help with early detection of cancers that men face.

Sharing your story is so touching, so vulnerable and honest-it breathes hope where there once was none. Thank you Chad for doing the work you do, it matters.

Hi Chad,
Both my father-in-law, a Vietnam veteran who died by suicide in 1981, and my brother-in-law, who took his life in 2002, struggled with mental illness. My son is even writing his college essay on suicide and mental health—because our family knows how deeply this impacts generations.

My husband was just 10 when his dad died, and like you, that loss shaped him into a stronger, more aware father. Thank you for shining a light on this difficult subject and for helping to break the stigma around suicide.
