"In April this year I was diagnosed with Stage-4 prostate cancer that had metastasized to my bones...I know, WTH? When for the most part you have been feeling fine and not symptomatic at all, it's a bit of a shocker. And if you know me, I've been on the frequent flyer program for MANY years for my old man physicals, blood draws, colonoscopies (my personal favorite and most relaxing), etc. After it sank in for a bit, and thx to a great team of doctors from Urology Assoc, Anova Cancer Care, and Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, the regime began, starting with a quite delicious cocktail of manhood killing pills to stop the cancer in its track prior to chemo. We've all heard the phrase of "a new normal", and well, that's were it put me...my GAFM (give a gosh-darn meter) definitely bottomed out a bit. But I must admit, my skin has never been more oil-free & vibrant. And on July 22nd I started my first round of 6 heavy dose chemo sessions. For the first 48 hours after I thought "man I got this...actually felt pretty good, what the big chemo deal", AND THEN it put me right in my place and without any argument made sure I knew who was boss! Sooooo, I've been under the weather a bit (ok a lot) since my birthday and just wanted to let you all know I'm not that big a dog. Haha. I am so incredibly blessed to have the support team I do. I'm serious, my family, friends, and co-workers have NEVER left my side and for that I am more than grateful. For not being a super religious man, I sure do find myself thanking the man upstairs all the time that they are in my life. And finally to my wife my wife, Linda that little heaping pile of non-stop energy that ALWAYS puts me and my well-being first. Not sure what it is, I must be good in be...no that's not it. She makes my life better, and in turn it makes fighting this battle easier on an old fart like me. I love her so much and am so incredibly blessed for her, my family, and everyone in my live. Sorry for rambling, just wanted to let everyone know where things are in my little world and that God only gives us one shot on this little blue ball, so go out and live your life to the fullest, do some good for folks, show some love to the people who love you, and once in a while take a chance and do something that makes your heartbeat spike a little!
