You might know actor Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation fame, but this month Nick has used his iconic Mo to offer some guidance to Mo Bros growing for Movember. It can be an intimidating journey for first time growers and Nick and some of his friends from The Office eased these tensions by telling Mo Bros that ‘It Gets Fuller.’
Nick knows a little something about growing a thick Mo and what makes a funny and poignant video. We couldn’t be more pleased to have this amazing, moustachioed actor joins the ranks as a Mo Mentor for Movember 2012.
Nick answered some of our burning questions about his moustache and what he thinks makes the Mo the mark of a man.
How have the ladies reacted to your moustache?
My wife enjoys it, but I am required to keep it trimmed enough so that she doesn’t get a mouthful when we are sparking.
Is there anything more manly than a moustache?
A chainsaw sculptor?
Do you come from a family of moustaches?
My Uncles Dan and Don always had kickass moustaches, and they are heroic guys to boot, so I always equated lip-whiskers with charisma and dependability.
How does your performance on Parks and Recreation change because of your moustache?
I think my moustache had something to do with establishing Ron Swanson as a man who doesn’t give you much with the face. It’s been fun to play a person who often answers a question or situation with ambivalence or just a steely glare.
Which occupation should require a moustache?
Sheriff, duh.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten? From who?
Always maintain the attitude of a student. That way, you’ll always have something to improve in yourself, and you can be happy every day. When one thinks he has become a master, that’s when bitterness and disappointment move in. Shozo Sato, my sensei in Kabuki Theater and life.
What are some words of wisdom to live by?
Figure out what you love to do, then figure out how to get paid to do it.
Are there any mannerisms you’ve been graced with from your father?
My wife likes to say that my Dad and I are twins. We definitely look and talk alike, and I grew up trying to do everything just like my Dad, from steering the truck to hammering a nail to shooting a free-throw to using good manners.
Why did you get involved with Movember?
I like doing what I can for a good charitable cause, and using whiskers to benefit cancer research and awareness seemed like a good fit.
