A moustache is worth a thousand words. As an actor, Kevin Connolly is often called upon to lend his voice to help raise awareness, and when he decided to join thousands of other Mo Bros for the first time this Movember he was happy to lend his Mo.
Cancer is a very real and serious subject for Kevin, who lost his father to lung cancer in 1991 and more recently his mother to gallbladder cancer in 2009. Seeing both his parents undergo treatment Kevin understands how important it is to raise funds in support of research and programs dedicated to this disease, and how early prevention could potentially save a mother, a father – a life.
Using a fun and creative campaign to shed light on such a serious subject is an idea that really appeals to Kevin, “with Breast Cancer Awareness month having just passed, and seeing the great strides that have been made in women’s health I think it’s really important to get more men involved. A moustache can be a great conversation starter and cancer is an important subject to get people talking about.”
Already thinking about next year, Kevin hopes to spread the word to his friends, “we’re really going to step it up a notch and get as many people involved as possible. The more people who are aware, the more money raised, the more lives we help save whether it’s through early prevention or treatment. Bottom line.”
