Thanksgiving is all about coming together with family and friends to celebrate the blessings in our lives. Unfortunately, the men we love aren’t always able to be at our Thanksgiving table.

By getting involved in Movember, you’re helping to ensure that people around the world don’t have to face life, or Thanksgiving, without the men we love. Be sure to tell your friends and family how grateful you are for them, and tell those who can’t be at your table that you love them. Encourage the men you love to make healthy choices this year and know the facts about men’s health. Everyone deserves a happy and healthy Mo’s-giving.

Here’s a quick guide to read up on the important stats and health risks men are facing:

  • On average, men die six years earlier than women
  • Every minute, somewhere in the world, a man takes his own life
  • Every day 90 American men die by suicide
70% of men say their friends can rely on them for support, but only 48% say that they rely on their friends. In other words: we’re here for our friends, but worried about asking for help for ourselves. Reaching out is crucial.
  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men under 40
  • In America, 410 men will die each year from testicular cancer
  • 1 in 8 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in thier lifetime
  • 73 American men will die from prostate cancer every day
  • At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it’s right for you to have a PSA test. If you are African American or have a father or brother with prostate cancer, you should be having this conversation at 45.

We know it can be a little hairy to discuss health at the dinner table, but it’s important to talk to your friends and family about Movember to make sure the all men and women we love will be at our Thanksgiving table next year and for many years to come.

We are thankful for you, our Movember community who are helping to stop men dying too young.
