It's the last day of Movember but there's still time to donate if you were putting it off until the end. I know it's been a tough couple of years for everyone and anything you can spare is more than welcome. But more than anything I hope I convinced you to take care of yourself. If that's the case, then my Movember was truly successful.

It's Giving Tuesday and I'd like to gently remind you I am still looking for donations to finish out this Movember. You might want to check with your company to see if they're doing any matching of employee donations. In any case, please think of Movember as the month comes to an end.

This year, consider giving yourself a gift: Make an appointment to get a physical, especially if it's been a while. Learn how to self-examine for testicular issues. Get a PSA test. You're valuable and we want you to stay around.

Movember ends Wednesday, so if you're thinking of donating time is running short. Remember, no amount is ever too small and is always greatly appreciated.

I passed my 400 mile Movember cycling goal this morning and you know what that means: Higher goal for 2023! I'm sure I'll be able to hit 450 this year, so we'll see what the new year brings. Just remember, you don't need a bike or any special equipment to get out and walk. Any kind of movement is good for you and there's no excuse not to.

This time of year can be tough on all of us, even more so with the changes the recent years have brought. If you feel that it's all too much, don't become a sad statistic. You're valuable, you matter and you don't have to feel bad. Movember has a page of resources that you can take advantage of. https://us.movember.com/mens-health/get-support

This Thanksgiving, like every one since 2013, I'm thankful for everyone who has donated and will donate in the last week of Movember. It more than makes up for the discomfort I feel posting daily and asking you for money.

I'm just 36 miles short of my goal for Movember 2022 with a week left. I guess I should have set my goal higher, but in any case, isn't this a great excuse to donate? No amount is too small and it goes to help others. I can't think of a better reason to toss a few bucks Movember's way.

I've been talking about testicular and prostate cancer and the importance of early detection. So here's a question for you, when was the last time you went to the doctor for a physical? If you had to think about the answer or it's been two years or more you're taking on more risk than you'd imagine. I got started with Movember because my dad delayed seeing a doctor for the infection that ultimately took his life. Don't follow in his footsteps.

Just a gentle reminder that I am seeking donations and that Movember is truly focused on its mission to improve lives. You can read all about their financials here: https://us.movember.com/about/money

There are a number of treatments for prostate cancer, not all of which involve surgery. What you will face during and after treatment will vary as well. True North is Movember's page for getting the answers to your questions about prostate cancer: https://truenorth.movember.com/en-us

While testicular cancer strikes mostly young men, prostate cancer mostly affects men over 50. It's a bit harder to detect in its earliest stages than testicular cancer but luckily there's a simple test for it that your doctor can order for you. If you're nearing or over 50 (45 if you're African American or related to someone who had it), it's time to ask your doctor about ordering the PSA test to be added to your annual physical (which you're getting, right?). It's so easy there's no reason not to.

Just a little reminder that I am indeed asking for donations, not just posting about health issues. I know there are a lot of others asking for money this time of year so even a couple of bucks is more than appreciated. Thanks.

Testicular cancer, or any cancer for that matter, involves treatment and that means expense. If you live in the US this could be just as devastating to you as your diagnosis. Costs vary with the nature of the treatment your doctor decides but here is some info and tips on dealing with the expenses: https://nutsandbolts.movember.com/resources/testicular-cancer-and-financial-stress/

Detecting testicular cancer starts with finding an abnormality. But once that happens your doctor is going to send you for tests to determine what is causing that abnormality. Look here to learn about the tests and what they can tell you and your doctor: https://nutsandbolts.movember.com/testicular-cancer-journey/testicular-cancer-tests/

Diagnosed with testicular cancer? Want to talk about it with someone other than your doctor? Movember offers guides you can talk to and some can be reached through phone, email, or even in-person catch-ups. You don't have to go it alone. https://nutsandbolts.movember.com/talk-to-a-guide/

Your chances of survival with testicular cancer depend on when it is detected and treated. You are the frontline for detection , no one knows you better. Here's how: https://nutsandbolts.movember.com/testicular-cancer-journey/found-lump-pain-swelling/

For those facing testicular cancer, there's an important and uncomfortable topic that comes up early in the journey: fertility. There's no single answer for everyone. Only you and your doctor can say what the future will hold for you. https://nutsandbolts.movember.com/sex-and-fertility/planning-to-have-kids-testicular-cancer/

These are the facts about testicular cancer. Remember, early detection and treatment are key to the high survivability of this disease and no one can do that detection better than you. https://nutsandbolts.movember.com/testicular-cancer-facts/

166 Week(s) Ago

Cancer is often thought of as a disease of the old, and that's true to a point. But there are cancers that more often strike the young. One of them is testicular cancer. Young men 15-39 are the most likely to be struck with this disease. But early detection and treatment mean that the survival rate for testicular cancer is remarkably high. Here's more information about it: https://us.movember.com/about/testicular-cancer
