My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Prostate cancer
Mental health and suicide prevention

For over four years, prostate cancer has tried to own my life. There are times when it has succeeded, times when it's taken all my will (and my dog, and my trainer, and my therapist, and some awesome medical folks, and my friends and family) to fight it. It will ultimately win, but until then, let's kick its ass.

(1) The anniversary of my start of treatment, (2) my birthday, and (3) this genius Movember thing are all November events, so I’m going to take advantage of that serendipity and take some control of this—even if just for a Mo-ment.

The last three Movembers, folks stepped up: with love, support, and nearly $30K. Dazzling. Truly, every donation—even a dollar—fills me with hope and gratitude as I face a scary, uncertain future. Too many men, too young, are facing the same.

Globally, more than 1.4M men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Movember is working to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, and I want to help them—I mean us—get there.

So yesterday was the first “official“ day, with the first scattering of scruff across my upper lip, and we crossed the $1700 threshold. So many feelings. Mostly that this whole situation for me can be used to do some good, rally some folks, and raise awareness. I cherish everyone’s support. A bright spot in this “club no one wants to join.”
