So why movember for me ? Well it all really started two years ago. As some of you know I had a quite large rock climbing accident. Left me in an induced coma for 8 days, broken leg, broken jaw, damaged optic nerve in right eye (so hardly any vision in that eye now) and they had to remove part of my skull to deal with the swelling in the brain, the rest of the skull was in many pieces too. It has taken two years but most of the physical bits have been fixed but it has left me with a brain injury and major fatigue. To top it all of Covid has happened as well !

Being sat at home for nearly 2 years, the brain injury and the knowledge of the accident left me with minor anxiety nothing to bad just panicking when I wasn't early for things, worry about the dogs running out the front door if it was open (they never had before and never have done whilst I was worrying about it), worrying mum had hurt herself when she was slightly late back on a dog walk even if I knew deep down she had probably bumped into someone and was having a chat and a few other minor bits like that. Luckily for me I managed to get some sessions with a physcologist at my local brain injuries unit. Just being open and talking about it and ways of tackling it has been a massive help. Being open really is the best way to tackle it.

Going to see the physcologist even when I thought my anxiety wasn't "that bad" has helped me massively and I can only encourage anyone even if you don't think you are massively suffering just to be open and chat it through with a family member or a friend. They might not be a specialist but they will listen and they will want to help. Men's health is something that isn't spoken about enough. Yes it has got better but even now I wonder about posting things on social media or telling people certain things just incase I am judged . No one should have to worry. If a friend is a true friend they will take you as you come. Worts and all. So speak up and be proud of who you are. Some days can be tricky but I promise it is easier with someone by your side to help you through it.

So please if you can sponsor me, even if it's a couple of pennies and I will get rid of the usual stubble, grow out my hideous tash and wet shave my beard (I haven't wet shaved in about 5 years) so my tash can stand loud and proud for the month of November and give a little back to fight for men's mental health !!!

The last 48 hours of what has been a pretty amazing month. Received so many donations, more then I ever thought I would. Had so much support from others and the tash has started so many chats about mental health, mine and others. All I can hope is that more conversations started and more people feeling they can be open about there mental health because of it all. I would like to say it's only 48 more hours of the Mo but 11 months to go

So last night some madness happened. On Saturday I hit my £1250 target but never ever in a million years thought I would hit £2000 so took on the challenge that if I did I would keep my moustache for a year. Yesterday it happened. I am still not sure how or why so many people have donated so much money but it means so so very much. All I can do is thank you all for helping me and donating some money towards such an amazing charity. Please all get ready for the year of the tache as it starts now !!!!!

Went out for a lovely walk in the sun today. I really have found just the smallest amount of fresh air helps my mental health massively. The days I feel the worst are when I have sat inside all day. Even when I am massively fatigued I try and go for a 5 min stroll around the playing field. It clears my head and gives me a sense of calm.

Two week update and it's starting to look like a proper tash now. Only 7 weeks until the end of December and shave day. Unless some how I hit the big £2000 then I will have to wait until the next Movember to shave it off !!!!

I didn't expect to raise £100 let alone £1250 but I have one last target and one last little bet with my cousin. If some how you lot can help me raise £2000 I will keep my mo for a year. One whole year of a hairy top lip. Now I know this is a massive ask and I am still not sure I will cope but the smallest donations can help. Any change you have lurking around from when we could use cash pre covid or that fiver you have just found in your back pocket send it my way. It could help someone you know in the near future. So please not for me but for every man out there fighting with there mental health a donation would be amazing.

When I got to the party having the tash was great, it was a real reason to talk about my accident and mental health in general plus more sponsorship for some amazing people.
Again all I can do is thank every single one of you that have sponsored me so far. Yes it means I get to have fun growing a tash for a month but I know all the money I raise will go towards men's mental health and improving how it is dealt with in general.

Yesterday was all a bit crazy in terms of my tash. I had a party at a friend's house that evening and although I knew I would know most people there I had a small amount of anxiety. It would be the biggest party I had been to since my accident and I had no idea how I would cope this meant a day of thinking about it all even though I new it would be fine.
But then it all started to go good. Just as I was leaving for the party I hit my £1250 target, this means the tash is staying until Christmas (sorry mum).
