My motivation

I'm taking part in MoVember on behalf of the Mighty Denver Bulldogs ARFC.

This MoVember, I'm challenging myself to honor my best friend, who battled with depression and tragically lost his life to suicide this past January.

For the first time in years, I'll be shaving it all down and starting fresh, growing a terrible mustache to raise awareness. Along with that, I'll be running 1km more every day - starting with 1km on Day 1 and aiming for 30km by day 30. It's a big challenge, and as the days go on, there's a real chance I won't reach the finish line. But that's part of the message.

Mental health struggles are like that - an uphill climb where each step feels heavier, and sometimes, we fall short. This run symbolizes that journey, the one so many face every day. It's okay to struggle, to stumble, to feel that things are tough, to not have all the answers, and to ask for support along the way. One step at a time, harder every day, with no guarantee we'll reach the end unscathed. This run, like so many people's mental health journeys, is about showing up even when things are tough and knowing that failing is sometimes okay.

By taking on the challenge, I hope to raise awareness and encourage real conversations about mental health. Check in on your friends and family, and let them know it's okay to say when life feels overwhelming. Let's start talking about the tough stuff - even when it's hard - and let's remind people it's okay not to be okay.

For anyway facing these battles or who has lost someone close, I hope this journey will be a reminder that resilience isn't about perfection. It's about finding the strength to keep going, one day at a time, and knowing that even in our toughest moments, we're not alone.

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

MOvember is the leading charity that is changing the face of men's health, and this MOvember I'm joining them as part of the Denver Bulldogs MOvember team! Together we can make a difference for men's health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Help me stop men from dying too young.

My goal is to raise awareness this MOvember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates around the world so I need your help and appreciate your donations.

You are inspiring Troy! Great work on the runs, honestly can't believe you finished that goal. Not because it was you, just that it seemed so impossible when you told me.
