My motivation

I'm taking part in Movember on behalf of the St. Louis Blues Australian Rules Football Club.

Last year, I took on Movember to honor my best friend, who battled depression and tragically lost his life to suicide this past January. I shaved it all down and grew a terrible moustache while running 1 km more each day — 1 km on Day 1, 30 km by Day 30 — to symbolize the uphill fight so many face with mental health.

This year, I was hoping to take on that running challenge again, but unfortunately, I injured my knee (MCL/ACL) in the Grand Final. While I can’t run this time, I’m still showing up — moustache and all — to continue the message: mental health battles don’t always go to plan, but persistence matters.

Every day we keep showing up, even when things get harder, even when we fall short. That’s what resilience looks like — taking one step at a time and knowing we’re not alone.

Movember’s mission is to reduce male suicide by 25% by 2030 and change the face of men’s health — tackling mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer head-on. I’m joining the St Louis Blues Movember team to keep pushing that message forward.

Check in on your mates. Talk about the tough stuff. It’s okay not to be okay.

Your support, donations, and conversations help stop men from dying too young.

Honoring my friend by running 1km on Nov 1, adding 1km each day, aiming for 30km on nov 30. It's a journey for mental health awareness - to show it's okay to struggle, to talk and to keep going.

As Movember wraps up, I want to say thank you to everyone who grew a mo, walked those kilometres, shared their story, or donated. We’ve been talking a lot about mental health and suicide prevention, but men’s health is so much bigger than that.

It’s about catching prostate cancer early.
It’s about spotting the signs of testicular cancer when it’s still 98 % curable.
It’s about breaking the stigma so blokes actually go to the doctor instead of “toughing it out”. It’s about making sure our dads, brothers, mates, sons, and grandads are around for a lot longer.

So let’s keep the conversation going past November.
- Check in on your men.
- Ask the hard questions.
- Look after each other.

If you can spare $1, $5, $10, whatever you’ve got, it all adds up and saves lives. Can’t donate right now? No worries.
Pick up the phone and actually talk to a mate, or better yet, book yourself that yearly check-up you’ve been putting off.
