My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Prostate cancer

Globally, more than 1.4M men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. In my family alone there have been multiple diagnoses, and I've lost a grandfather.

At UNC I help the Men's Health Program bring awareness to issues like prostate cancer every day. Movember is working to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

I ran 3 mi00:26:36

Another 3mi logged towards the monthly goal of 60.

A few short years ago 60 in a week would have been no big deal, but I promise you, running isn't easy getting back into.

Definitely feeling stronger every time I head out.

I ran 3.14 mi00:28:58

Another few miles logged and the while the legs felt like jelly and the sweaty ‘mo didn’t feel great it’s nothing compared to those men who have gone through cancer or a mental health crisis. Happy to move.

Day 1 is always tough... but you’ve got to start somewhere! 3 miles down, 57 to go

1 week until Movember - Very excited to be participating!
I have been involved with the UNC Men’s Health Program (UNCMensHealth.org) and these kinds of social campaigns really do have an effect. I’ve watched men’s health engagement increase but there is still a long road ahead to impress upon many men why prioritizing their health is so important.
So this Movember if there is even one person who makes a decision to take steps to improve their health or impart on someone they love to do so, then my time spent participating is well worth it.
