As Movember wraps up this 2022, with a pretty decent mustache, if I do say so myself.
I would like add my personal story and journey alongside the millions of other inspiring stories from brave men who are living with and surviving prostate cancer.
Movember is an organization whose mission is to raise awareness and reduce the stigma on men’s health issues related to prostate and testicular cancer and emotional health.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, fortunately millions will survive because of early detection and lifesaving treatments.
Being aware of my family genetics and understanding the importance of early and regular screenings, I was diagnosed a few years ago with early stage prostate cancer and have been on active surveillance. Now, as I head into my 60th year, strong and still young at heart, I will take action on a treatment that will save my life.
I greatly appreciate all the support I received this month from Michael and my friends, I know it can be uncomfortable talking about this topic, but together, my brothers...and sisters too, we can all speak up and take action to reduce the risk of men needlessly dying too early.
So fellas, don’t wait, check in with your doctor or clinic and request a PSA test regularly, it’s a simple blood test and it can save your life, and while your here, take a moment to visit Movember.com for more information and resources for you or to share with friends and loved ones.
