My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

Over the past six years that I have been raising funds for this wonderful charity, you have all been such amazing partners to help provide the funds that directly impact men’s health. I want to start by thanking you all for helping me to raise over $90,000 to fund research to help men to live longer.

Over these six years, most of my focus has been on the cancer research side of Movember’s efforts since that is where I have friends and family who have battled and beaten cancer. However, this year is different for me and our family. As many of you know, our family suffered a tragic loss in February when our dear nephew Paul Kuhns, the youngest son of Elizabeth’s sister and brother-in-law, sadly took his own life at the young age of 23. Paul was challenged every day with Developmental Coordination Disorder, a neurodevelopmental condition. Young adults with DCD have a tragically high incidence of anxiety and depression. Paul was an incredibly kind, gentle and loving young man who was loved by his family and was best friends with our sons. Losing him has left a hole in our family, and we miss him every day.

Thank you again for your amazing support, and together I know we can keep making progress in attacking the mental health issues that are taking the lives of too many young men.

With deep gratitude,

Derek

Hey Derek! Worthy cause for sure. Had my run-in with Mr.C a few years back and it wasn't pretty! Thanks for doing this!

I'm closing out this year's fundraising effort in style ..... no more goatee, no more chin hair, just a good, old fashioned 70's style mustache. :)

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
