The Distinguished Gentleman (DGR) is a charity fundraiser like no other. Once a year, lovers of vintage and classic motorcycles get together around the world in their most dapper outfits to ride and raise money for men’s health.

What is The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride about?

The event began in 2012, when a gentleman called Mark Hawwa brought together 2,500 riders in 64 cities. His intention at the time was to run an event that helped counter negative stereotypes about motorcyclists. It turned out to be so popular that he figured all that interest and goodwill could best serve an enduring and worthy cause.

Today, DGR is bigger than ever. Its riders have raised tens of millions in funding for men’s health. The event connects people in more than 1,000 cities. And as this year marks 10 years since Mark and a few thousand finely dressed friends took to the streets, DGR 2022 promises to be special indeed.

How does The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride support Movember?

Movember became DGR’s official charity partnerin 2016 – arguably a match that was meant to be, considering what both stand for.

Both raise funds and awareness for men’s health. Both bring people together. And both believe that having fun and doing good aren’t mutually exclusive.

Through the partnership, Movember invests the funds raised by the DGR community into two of the biggest health issues that men face: prostate cancer and mental health and suicide prevention. Game-changing men’s health initiatives is what we do. And we’ve been at it long enough to have funded over 1,250 projects since 2003 – something that would not have been possible without the support from The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

Where and when is the 2022 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride?

DGR 2022 is on Sunday, 22 May. Rides are held in cities all around the world. The DGR ride finder shows all participating countries and cities. Rides are limited to one per city.

How do I participate?

Do you love classic and vintage motorcycles? Got a dazzlingly dapper suit or comparably sharp outfit? And most importantly, are you passionate about men’s health? Then you can register for a ride in your city. Places are limited and demand is high, so be quick to sign up to avoid missing out. The event is open to all genders and sexes.

What bikes are allowed?

Bikes must be classic or vintage. That means a café racer, bobber, classic, tracker, scrambler, old school chopper, modern classic, sidecar, classic scooter, or brat-style motorcycle. Check out the DGR style guide for a full list.

What do you wear to The Distinguished Gentleman’s ride?

Sharp. Dapper. Classy. Stylish. Dashing. Rakish. These terms best describe suitable attire. While it might be tempting to try and describe a ‘typical’ DGR outfit, the incredible diversity on display at a ride is such that there’s rarely any such thing. Think tailored suits, silk ties, cravats, waist coats, cufflinks, dapper helmets, and then find your way from there. To quote from the DGR style guide: “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is an event where self-expression flourishes and personalities drive fashion choices”.

How do I donate to The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride?

The best way to support DGR with a donation is to sponsor a rider or team. Just search for the name of who you want to sponsor and donate accordingly. Alternatively, you can make a general donation to support men’s health.

Don’t forget: it’s on Sunday, 22 May. Get riding!
