Fundraise on Facebook with a Gift-Matching BoostAs an official nonprofit charity partner with Facebook, the Movember Foundation is one of the first charities in the world to have a fundraising platform integrated with Facebook’s campaign technology. People in the U.S. can use Facebook to collect donations and increase awareness for their Movember Foundation campaign in support of men’s health by syncing their fundraisers then raising money through both Movember.com and Facebook.
In honor of #GivingTuesday, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will also contribute up to $1 million to Facebook fundraisers. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will provide $500,000 in matching funds, up to $1,000 per Facebook fundraiser, and Facebook will waive up to $500,000 of fees on all donations. The Movember Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who have already created Facebook fundraisers are encouraged to utilize the uniquely integrated technology to raise additional funds for men’s health through this matching donations opportunity.
“We are very excited to participate in #GivingTuesday this year, and have the support of partners who are generous in rewarding our community for their commitment to men’s health,” said Mark Hedstrom, Movember's SVP of Operations. “#GivingTuesday is a time for giving back, and the support of our Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s on this day truly makes a difference in helping the Foundation to ultimately stop men dying too young.”
#GivingTuesday was born at 92nd Street Y (92Y), a community and cultural center in New York in 2012. Since the founding of #GivingTuesday in 2012, millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
“The tremendous response to #GivingTuesday over the last five years has been both humbling and inspiring,” said Henry Timms, Executive Director of 92Y. “We have seen countless examples of communities coming together to address challenges. Giving is a powerful reminder of our shared humanity, and the willingness of so many to participate and elevate giving is reason for celebration – even with lots of work still to be done.”
