My motivation

I've been a bit radio silent on this as have been super busy. But this year I'm super proud to be an ambassador for movember at the University of Chichester.

Changing how mental health is viewed has come on tenfold over the last 5 years however I feel there's so much more we can all do. After loosing of my own closest mates (not through anything mental health related) it put me in this rut of how and why does this happen, and this was right on the brink of the first lockdown, having to be by myself at times where I wanted to see my friends was difficult and luckily with the support of my family and friends through many a zoom pub quiz, run 5k donate 5 (which is about the only 5k I've done in 5 years, more to come on this) and all the other challenges that we all did to keep in touch, it showed how important open communication is when you can't physically see each other.

Alongside this, we all would have seen the sad new about the passing of James Michael Tyler, James was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer back in 2018. Starting these conversations now to your friends and family, if your 50 you should speak to your doctor about PSA testing (45 if your from African-Caribbean or African descent, and less common in Asian men. Or if you have family history)

Testicular cancer is the #1 cancer among young guys. Yet 62% of those who are most at risk don’t know how to check themselves. Good news is it’s easy.

The best thing you can do for your nuts is to give them a feel every month or so – get to know what’s normal for you. That way, if anything changes you can act on it.

As movember have conned and I find it rather fitting, 'know thy nuts' - lads, dad's and everyone in between, check your nuts once a month. Takes 30 seconds and it could make the difference.

I'm sorry for the long ramble, it's not like me but it's important.

Now for what I'm doing, alongside supporting conversations. I have arranged a number of events with my other ambassador.
So far we have
Welcome party (of which I'm doing the closing set)
Staff vs students dodgeball
Staff vs students futsal
Hopefully staff vs students football
Fifa tournament
Beer pong tournament
Closing ball

And many more which are still in the works

And ive set a few fundraising goals

If I raise £150 I will shave a moustache into my head (location to be decided)
If I raise £400 I'll run to Bognor beach (roughly 7 miles) in budgie smugglers
If I raise £700 I will get the movember logo as a tattoo (if I can use it to make conversations which might not happen without it I call that a great win) (sorry mum and dad)

If you've got this far I applaud you. I appreciate all the time and I can't wait for what this month will bring
