This Movember hits even closer to home. My Dad fought prostate cancer once, and when it came back, he had to fight all over again. He’s recovering, and we’re grateful—but it’s a reminder that this disease doesn’t quit. My uncles have battled prostate cancer too. Friends my age are facing it. Friends’ fathers are facing it. It feels like every time someone clears one hurdle, another man in my life gets hit with the same diagnosis. It’s exhausting, it’s scary, and it needs to change.
Men don’t like to talk about this stuff. We bury it, we “tough it out,” and we pretend we’re fine. That mindset is killing us. If you’re over 40, call your doctor. Get checked. Push for the bloodwork. Advocate for yourself. Early detection saves lives—full stop.
And while we’re at it: check on your mental health, too. Therapy isn’t weakness. Struggling isn’t failure. You don’t have to carry everything alone. If you ever need to talk—about cancer, stress, life, anything—call me or text me. Seriously.
More than 1.4 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. Movember is working to cut deaths in half by 2030, and I want to do my part. Let’s help men live longer, healthier lives. Let’s stop losing the people we love too soon.
