Jeffrey's Motivation

This is personal ... My uncle Howard (my aunt's husband) is going through protracted treatment for prostate cancer *right now*, so this year, it's very close to home for me. My uncle Stuart (my mother's brother) died of cancer a few years ago. It was out to get him, but had to go through prostate, liver, and a couple others to finally finish him off. Pretty hard. If you can get anyone else interested in donating to support men's health and cancer research, please send them here.

As of now (Dec. 4th), I won't be giving out any more of those special packages for this Movember campaign. I'll need to work on my strategy for next time around: postage is going to hurt this time :-)

Donate $100 to my Movember campaign and I will bake, decorate and send you a generous box of homemade Christmas cookies. I'm not sure exactly what the box will weigh, but I will carefully pack and fill a standard packing box (37.5 x 30 x 13.5 cm) with various delights: grybai (the mushroom-shaped ones you see in the photo), decorated spice cookies, and more!

A couple of days ago, we had a great collection of friends and family over for Thanksgiving and it also reminded me of many who aren't around anymore.

With 5 days to go in Movember, I'd like to bother you for nearly-the-last-time about donating to help the fight against testicular- and prostate cancer.

I'm growing this ugly thing on my lip to make a point and start conversations, but no one asks ... dunno if I'm too hipster or if it looks too "right" on me (what a thought!).

In any case, I hate the thought of losing my dad or son or another uncle to cancer and I'm certain you feel the same.

Thanks for sharing the personal side of this. I'm glad you can help in your way to raise awareness. When loved ones suffer with cancer, we do feel pretty useless. Best wishes to your uncle and your family.
