My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

From 2012-2013, I had multiple moments of suicidal ideation every single day. Leading up to that period, I didn't pay enough attention to my mind, body, and health. This led to me becoming very sick and subsequently depressed. Instead of reaching out, I shut everybody out. I didn't want to burden people. I was embarrassed.

During a coffee with my mentor, in her infinite wisdom, she knew I was in a dark place without being asked or told. She told me a story about her journey to dark places in her mind and how the community around her helped her climb back up. She learned that it was OK not to be OK. Step one was to talk about it.

Throughout Movember, I'll be moving 60 miles to remind friends and my community to take extra steps to check in with yourself and others.
