Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. The Movember Foundation is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this a success! I was not even sure I could raise 500, so I am super pleased where we ended up! I will be back next year!

From the National Institute of Mental Health:
"How can I help a loved one who is depressed?"
If you know someone who has depression, first help him find a doctor or mental health professional and make an appointment.
-Offer him support, understanding, patience, and encouragement.
-Talk to him, and listen carefully.
-**Never ignore comments about suicide, and report them to his therapist or doctor.**

We are halfway there... so you get half a smile!

Most people do not even know what to do or where to start in getting the help they need. Talk to your health care provider about your mental health.

**so much neck beard, I think that it is growing faster near the neck line... which is gross... who wants to take me on a date! #SoPretty ;-)**

I support men's mental health because I don't think "man up" should mean "shut up."

I have reached the point where from 20 paces... it looks like I have a decent covering of facial hair. Upon closer inspection... it is clear that is not the case!

Friday! Beard is coming along okay. Itchy as all. For millions of men, mental illness is that itch that they can't scratch!

Deconstruction the ridiculous notion that men can never reach out for help or should just 'tough it out' is progress for all of us. Be a part of ending the stigma.

Day 8; some of the hairs are long enough to pull... making it look extra gross. All seems lost.

I can't change everything, but I can do my best.

*Sigh* One week in and I feel like my man beard is not growing at all. I have not even so much as cleaned up any edges in the last 7 days, I am looking pretty rough.
