My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Year # 7 of being a Mo' Sista, and to date I've raised just over $20,000. Although I can’t grow a ‘stache myself, I raise money for Movember in honor of my dad who lost his battle to Sarcoma (a rare form of the shittiest cancer). His mental and physical strength in the face of terminal illness is an inspiration to me each day. And in light of the events of the last few years I'd also like to use this platform as a way to encourage all the men in my life to take care of themselves and focus on their mental health, not just their physical health.

Movember has given me a really unique platform to discuss mental health with all of the tough guys in my life. I used this as a way to talk with my dad about his mental health in the final months of his life when he was battling cancer. He never let his feelings or emotions out, and telling him I was raising money for Movember, and men's mental health encouraged him to be open and honest with me about how he was feeling about his own mortality. I also work in a very male dominated industry with so many "tough guys," and I have been able to use the Movember platform as a means to open up a conversation about how important is to take care of ALL elements of men's health. I will continue to fundraise in my dad's honor, and I will aim to be a point of outreach and a safe space for all the men in my life to realize its OK to admit that you're not OK.
