Mental health and suicide prevention

This year I'm running the NYC Marathon with my Movember family. Many members of my family have had cancer, including my dad. My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer just over 10 years ago. Luckily it was caught early and taken care of quickly. He's perfectly fine now. Until then I hadn't really thought about health beyond fitness and nutrition. It set me down the path of viewing health as holistic lifestyle practices that incorporate things beyond fitness and nutrition like mental health and relationships. I've struggled with all of these things at some point in my life, but have always tried to put in efforts to make all aspects of my life better. I now try to advocate for others to do the same thing. I've changed my career from software development to physical therapy in order to align with this purpose. I want to be someone who empowers others to take control of their health in whatever way they can right now.
