This is personal ... My uncle Howard (my aunt's husband) is going through protracted treatment for prostate cancer *right now*, so this year, it's very close to home for me.
My uncle Stuart (my mother's brother) died of cancer a few years ago. It was out to get him, but had to go through prostate, liver, and a couple others to finally finish him off. Pretty hard.
If you can get anyone else interested in donating to support men's health and cancer research, please send them here.
I'll be paying for the ingredients, goodies, and shipping myself. If it gets to the point where I'd bankrupt myself on the fulfilment (if lots and lots of you kick in), I'll have to be in touch with you about arranging shipping.
Donate $250 to my Movember campaign and you get homemade cookies, Christmas chocolate, and Artisanal Nürnberger Elisen-Lebkuchen that I will personally select at one of Cologne's wonderful Christmas markets and ship directly to you! Lebkuchen are the ultimate German Christmas treat: cookies made with nuts, candied fruit, and a sugar or chocolate glaze.
Donate $150 to my Movember campaign and you get homemade cookies plus a selection of German Christmas chocolates (milk or dark)! Have you ever tasted cinnamon-marzipan-dark-chocolate? Orange-spice-chocolate? No? You know you want to ...
I make some great Christmas cookies. Very, very delicious. You want some like that? I can hook you up.
Donate $100 to my Movember campaign and I will bake, decorate and send you a generous box of homemade Christmas cookies. I'm not sure exactly what the box will weigh, but I will carefully pack and fill a standard packing box (37.5 x 30 x 13.5 cm) with various delights: grybai (the mushroom-shaped ones you see in the photo), decorated spice cookies, and more!
Thanks for sharing the personal side of this. I'm glad you can help in your way to raise awareness. When loved ones suffer with cancer, we do feel pretty useless. Best wishes to your uncle and your family.
